Thư ngỏ gửi các công dân Việt Nam đã ký tên vào Lời Kêu Gọi cho Quyền Thành Lập và Hoạt động Đảng Phái tại Việt Nam và Tuyên Ngôn Tự Do Dân Chủ cho Việt Nam
Chúng tôi xin chân thành bầy tỏ sự hỗ trợ, khích lệ và kính trọng đối với 116 công dân Việt Nam đã ký tên ngày 6 tháng 4 năm 2006 vào "Lời Kêu Gọi cho Quyền Thành Lập và Hoạt Động Đảng Phái tại Việt Nam" và 118 công dân Việt Nam đã ký tên ngày 8 tháng 4 năm 2006 vào "Tuyên Ngôn Tự Do Dân Chủ cho Việt Nam".
Chúng tôi được biết từ khi các văn kiện này được công bố, đã có hàng ngàn người Việt ở trong và ngoài nước lên tiếng hỗ trợ. Những văn kiện này đã cho thấy rõ, dầu cho tình trạng tự do ở mỗi nơi còn khác biệt nhưng khát vọng tự do thì ở đâu cũng như nhau.
Chúng tôi hy vọng lá thư này sẽ nhắc nhở cho những ai có ý đồ muốn bóp nghẹt những tiếng nói đòi tự do hoặc toan tính đe dọa hay đàn áp những người dân đã bầy tỏ quan điểm của họ một cách bất bạo động, là một sự vi phạm nhân quyền và mâu thuẫn với mọi hình ảnh ổn định và tiến bộ mà chính quyền Việt Nam đang muốn có. Đây là điều toàn thể thế giới đang theo dõi.
Với hết cả những ai đang sống tại Việt Nam đã ký tên vào những văn kiện lịch sử này, sự can đảm và quyết tâm của quý vị để bảo vệ tự do của con người bằng những phương tiện bất bạo động là tấm gương sáng cho đồng bào cả nước, cho chính chúng tôi và cho toàn thế giới. Chúng tôi cam kết sẽ sát cánh cùng quý vị trong cuộc tranh đấu này.

Open Letter to Vietnamese Citizens Supporting the
Appeal for Freedom of Political Association
and the Manifesto on Freedom and Democracy for Vietnam
We wish to express out sincere support, encouragement, and respect for the 116
Vietnamese citizens who signed the April 6, 2006 "Appeal for Freedom of Political
Association" and the 118 Vietnamese citizens who signed the April 8, 2006 "Manifesto
on Democracy and Freedom for Vietnam".
It is our understanding that since these documents were released, thousands of
Vietnamese - living inside the country and abroad - have expressed their support. These
documents are a compelling reminder that while the freedoms we enjoy are not universal,
the thirst for freedom most certainly is.
We hope that this letter will further serve as a reminder to those who silence voices of
freedom that any act of repression or intimidation against citizens peacefully expressing
their beliefs is a gross violation of human rights - wholly inconsistent with the image of
stability and progress that the Government of Vietnam is currently pursuing. The world
is watching.
To those living in Vietnam who have given their signatures to these historic documentsyour
courage and dedication in advocating for human liberty through peaceful and
nonviolent means serves as an inspiration to your fellow citizens, to us, and to the world.
We stand with you in your struggle.
